Prospect Point, Vancouver, Canada

Overlooking Lion’s Gate Bridge (built in 1838), Prospect Point is found to the north of Stanley Park where there is an excellent vantage point to watch the cruise ships depart.

On 26th July 1888, the steamer SS Beaver was wrecked here (not a surprise given the areas name of Calamity Point at the time) and stayed for a few years before sinking to the waters depths where it still lies today.

A year later in 1889, an observation point (Summer House) was erected at Prospect Point, later, due to having the highest vantage point in Stanley Park, a signal station was built in 1923.

The current Prospect Point lighthouse was built in 1948 followed shortly after by the Tea Rooms in 1950.
